Although it has some high adrenaline moments like the battle in Moria and Boromir's tragic end, it's not as action-heavy as the later installments.

This film steps up the action compared to its predecessor, featuring expanded scenes like the barrel ride and the confrontation with Smaug.

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies (2014)

This movie delivers an explosive conclusion to the Hobbit trilogy with plenty of spectacle and action setpieces during the battle involving five armies.

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002)

Known for its epic Battle of Helm's Deep, this installment intensifies the action, providing one of the greatest siege sequences in cinema.

The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003)

The apex of fantasy action, featuring some of the greatest battles in the franchise like the Battle of the Pellenor Fields and the epic struggle at the Black Gate.
